The Minister for Food and Agriculture, Mr. Eric Opoku is calling on the Ghanaian media to use their platforms as a vital tool to aggressively promote the “Eat Ghana” agenda, emphasizing the crucial need for citizens to consume locally grown produce.

The Minister’s appeal comes amidst preparations for the 2025 National Farmers Day celebration.

Speaking on the Joy News AM Show, Mr. Opoku highlighted that this year’s celebration will heavily prioritize boosting local food production and consumption, requiring significant support from the nation’s media outlets.

He stressed that media houses hold the key to shifting national consumption habits toward domestically produced goods for long-term development.

“That is why we expect those of you who are privileged to have a voice, to sit on air every day for everybody to watch you, to use that medium to help us get our people to appreciate that the only way we can develop is to patronise what is produced in Ghana,” he stated.

The Minister’s message frames the promotion of local produce as a patriotic duty essential for national economic growth.
