Match Week 12 of the University of Ghana Corporate Football League delivered another round of electrifying action, with moments of brilliance, tactical battles, and long-awaited victories.
The evening opened with a cagey contest between Central Administration and Constanbic Bank. Both teams battled hard in midfield but struggled to create clear-cut chances. In the end, it was a goalless draw that reflected the evenly matched encounter.
The second game saw NPA put on a masterclass against Zenith Bank. From the start, Zenith took a defensive approach, but NPA were relentless in attack. Their dominance paid off with a penalty, calmly converted to open the scoring. The pressure didn’t ease as NPA capitalised on a brilliant buildup to add a second just before the break.
Early in the second half, NPA struck again, making it 3-0 with a sharp finish that sealed the result. They maintained control of the ball, shutting out Zenith to record a flawless win. However, Zenith found a silver lining in the track event—Fianu Elvis sprinted to victory in the 60m dash, with NPA finishing second and another Zenith runner grabbing third place.
In the third football clash, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) proved too strong for Bui Power. GCAA struck first from the penalty spot and continued to dominate possession. Two more goals followed from sustained attacking pressure, handing Bui Power yet another loss in their winless run.
Then came the night’s headline moment in the final game between Media General and Lancaster Accra. Lancaster had suffered a narrow defeat to NPA earlier and were looking to bounce back, while Media General were chasing their first win of the competition.
Lancaster controlled the early stages, creating several chances but failing to find the net. Then came a moment of pure magic—Media General’s talisman picked up the ball deep in his own half, spotted the goalkeeper off his line, and unleashed a thunderous long-range strike that flew straight into the back of the net. The stunning goal, struck from Media General’s own half, left everyone in awe and gave them a 1-0 lead.
Guided by an interim coach, Media General held firm for the rest of the game, defending with determination to secure their first three points of the tournament. It was a breakthrough moment that ended their winless streak in style.
