Since March 1st, you’ve probably felt it—the buzz in the air, the excitement, the energy! Ghanaians are out here turning up, with events popping off left and right, all centered around one thing: Ghana and women.
And honestly, it’s no surprise. March in Ghana isn’t just a month on the calendar—it’s a vibe, a movement, a full-blown celebration of who we are, where we’ve been, and where we’re going. It’s about honoring our history, embracing our culture, and lifting up the women who make it all possible.
It’s a celebration of history, power, and pride!” Imagine this: the sun is shining, the air is electric, and Ghana is turning up the volume on celebration. Why? Because March is where two epic things collide: Ghana’s Independence and Women’s Month!
Ghana’s Independence Day.
First up, we’ve got Independence Day! March 6th hits, and it’s Ghana’s day of freedom—the day we broke free, stood tall, and made history. Picture this: Kwame Nkrumah on the podium, the Big Five by his side, and a sea of citizens waving as he declares, “At long last, the battle has ended! And thus, Ghana, your beloved country is free forever!” The music was pumping, the energy was sky-high, and the pride? Oh, it was unstoppable. March 6th isn’t just a date—it’s the day Ghana stepped into its power.
Fast forward to 2025, and Ghana’s 68th Independence Day is coming up on March 6, 2025, and this year’s theme is “Reflect, Review, and Reset.” It’s like Ghana’s way of saying, “Let’s take a moment to look back, learn, and level up!” A theme that’s all about growth, transformation, and moving forward with purpose.
Now, here’s the twist: the big parade is switching things up! Instead of the usual Independence Square, the action will go down at the Forecourt of the Presidency (Jubilee House) in Accra. Why? It’s a smart move to keep things modest and financially responsible, especially during these tough economic times. Think of it as Ghana saying, “We’re keeping it real and keeping it classy!”
The celebration will be packed with highlights: a military guard of honour reviewed by the president, vibrant cultural performances by basic school pupils. The guest list includes Ghana’s finest—chiefs, religious leaders, students, traders, and political figures—all gathering to celebrate our journey.”
So, get ready! This year’s Independence Day isn’t just a party; it’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, review where we are, and reset for an even greater future.
Celebrating Women Who Can—and Do!
Then, just when you think March has already peaked, March 8th swoops in with International Women’s Day—kicking off Women’s Month! Time to grab the confetti, turn up the music, and celebrate the incredible women who are out here slaying every single day. From mothers balancing it all to CEOs shattering glass ceilings, from rule-breakers to dream-chasers—women make magic look easy.
This year’s theme? “Accelerate Action”—because, let’s face it, the world can’t wait until 2158 for gender equality (seriously, that’s way too far away!). The United Nations is also pushing for “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.” Translation? It’s time to speed things up, break down barriers, and make sure every woman and girl gets the chance to shine.
So, let’s make this Women’s Month a double win: celebrating the amazing women in our lives and pushing harder for a future where everyone gets a fair shot. Because equality isn’t just a goal; it’s a vibe, and we’re here for it!
The month “March” belongs to Ghana and women
So, yes, March is all about Ghana and women—and we’re here for it! This is the month to celebrate everything that makes Ghana shine. Wear Ghana, eat Ghana, speak Ghana, and walk like a Ghanaian (you know, with that extra swagger).🇬🇭 Embrace our culture, our pride, and our freedom.
And let’s not forget the women—our Obaasima! March is also the month to celebrate every woman who brings magic into our lives. From the moms who hold it all together to the trailblazers breaking barriers, women are the heartbeat of our nation. So, let’s raise a glass (or a calabash) to them and say, “Ayekoo!” for all they do.
Think of it like this: March is the month where Ghana and women team up to show off their superpowers. Women are out here changing the game, and Ghana is out here reminding everyone how we rocked the independence stage. It’s like a festival of freedom and girl power, all rolled into one.
