Robert Lewandowski leaves Barcelona at the end of the 25/26 season after four years

Robert Lewandowski has confirmed he will leave FC Barcelona at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing an end to a prolific four-year spell in Catalonia.

The Polish striker, who joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in July 2022, has been one of the club’s key attacking figures, consistently delivering goals, experience, and leadership in the final third.

During his time at the club, Lewandowski has reportedly made 191 appearances, scoring 119 goals and providing 22 assists.

Contract discussions in recent months had centered on a possible one-year extension with a significant wage reduction.

Barcelona are understood to have pushed for a revised salary structure as part of their long-term financial strategy, particularly due to the striker’s age.

However, Lewandowski is said to have been unconvinced by the proposed pay cut and sees little reason to accept reduced terms.

The 37-year-old will officially bring his Barcelona career to an end after announcing his departure via his social media channels.

He leaves after four seasons in blaugrana colours, having established himself as the team’s main attacking reference point.

Born in Warsaw on August 21, 1988, Lewandowski arrived at Barça following a glittering career across Europe, widely regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation.

He came to Catalonia with a decorated trophy cabinet and the ambition to continue performing at the highest level.

He wasted no time making an impact. In his debut 2022/23 season, he scored 33 goals in 46 appearances across all competitions, winning the Pichichi Trophy with 23 La Liga goals and helping Barcelona secure both the league title and the Spanish Super Cup.

His most prolific campaign came in 2024/25, when he scored 42 goals in 52 appearances, including 27 in La Liga, just two behind the league’s top scorer. He also netted 26 goals in the 2023/24 season, while he currently has 18 goals in the ongoing campaign.

Beyond goals, Lewandowski stood out for his leadership, professionalism, and influence in the dressing room, becoming a key figure in a rebuilding Barcelona side.

During his spell at the club, he won seven trophies: three La Liga titles (2022/23, 2024/25, 2025/26), one Copa del Rey (2024/25), and three Spanish Super Cups (2022/23, 2024/25, 2025/26).

Nicknamed “El Abuelo” by teammates, Lewandowski leaves behind a legacy of consistency, elite finishing, and professionalism. He departs FC Barcelona as one of the defining figures of the club’s recent era.
