Legon Cities goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey dies at 26

Legon Cities have just announced the sad news of their shot-stopper Sylvester Sackey’s demise that occurred after a brief combat with an illness.

The 26-year-old had been playing for the Royals for the previous four seasons.

In an official statement, Legon Cities expressed its sadness and added that in conjunction with the bereaved family they will provide further updates on the course of action

Legon Cities released a statement in which it expressed its sorrow and added that more updates on this particular issue will be communicated to the general public soon.

“It is with a heavy heart that we sadly announce the passing of our goalkeeper, Sylvester Sackey.

Sackey has been with us the last four seasons and was our first choice goalkeeper for a greater part of the last two seasons.

His demise is a big blow to everyone associated with the club.

Our hearts and thoughts are with the bereaved family at this very difficult time.

The club is in touch with the family of Sylvester and would communicate our next course of action in the coming days.”

Last season, Sackey played 19 times for Cities in the Ghana Premier League and was able to keep seven clean sheets as the Royals finished on the 9th position.
