The Larbi Ofori Richmond and Gyampo Ayeh Ebenezer Derrick ticket has emerged victorious in the UGSRC presidential run-off, defeating rivals Evander Akrasi and Michael Yeng by a wide margin.
According to certified results released by the Electoral Commission on Friday, August 22, 2025, the Larbi-Gyampo ticket secured 16,074 votes, representing 63.2% of the total ballots cast. Their opponents, Evander and Yeng, polled 9,355 votes, representing 36.8%.
The victory followed a tightly contested first round held on August 19, where Larbi and Gyampo led with 11,085 votes (46.1%), while Evander and Yeng placed second with 9,019 votes (37.5%). With no ticket crossing the constitutional 50% plus one threshold, the race proceeded to a run-off between the top two contenders.
In total, 25,429 students participated in the second round of voting, up from 24,071 in the first round — a sign of heightened student interest in the run-off.
The Larbi-Gyampo administration will now assume leadership of the SRC, tasked with steering student representation and welfare for the 2025/2026 academic year.
