A 32-year-old lady has allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death at Ayigya Zongo in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The suspect, Jennifer Appiah, also known as Maa Akua reportedly stabbed the deceased, Joseph Bawa, multiple times to death on Sunday after a misunderstanding ensued between the two.

In an interaction with the media, mother of the deceased, Madam Hawa Alhasan disclosed that, her son was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Teaching Hospital.

According to Mad. Alhasan, it was not clear what caused the misunderstanding but the suspect was notable for threatening the deceased with weapons such as knife and scissors in every fight they had.

She revealed that her son had been previously advised on countless occasions to end the relationship, but had failed to pay heed till he faced his demise.

“I have urged my son to stop [getting involved with] the woman on countless occasions but he refused to do so until his sudden demise. My daugther-in-law and her husband were fighting but it has been resolved. When they got to the street the fight started again not knowing the wife had knife on her, so she used it stab him and blood started oozing.”

She called for the police service to take the needed actions in the case.

“Now the lady after killing my son has vamoosed, and so we are pleading with Ghana Police to do the necessary investigations for her arrest.”

Body of the deceased has been deposited at the KNUST Teaching Hospital’s morgue for further investigations.

This is one of the many frequent cases of partners murdering the other in Ghana.

It is a growing issue of concern that stakeholders have called for action to be taken on the situation.
