US-based Ghanaian winger, Joseph Paintsil has paid a courtesy visit to the national Chief Imam, Sheik Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

The Black Stars forward missed Ghana’s game against Niger due to passport issues but took the opportunity to meet the leader of the Ghanaian Muslim community.

Painstil and his team visited the Imam at his residence in Fadama, the area where the footballer honed his talents.

The Los Angeles Galaxy star has pledged to renovate the Fadama Astroturf as his way of giving back to the community.

“It was an honor to pay a courtesy call on His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, with my friends & team to initiate the renovation of the Fadama Astro turf, where my football journey began. An opportunity to honor my roots and empower the next generation of players from the community,” wrote Paintsil on his social media pages.

The winger is expected to return to the United States in the coming weeks to rejoin his club for the business end of the Major League Soccer.

The winger has enjoyed a good start to his career in the MLS, netting eight goals and delivering seven assists in 24 matches.
