Kwame Opoku needs support from Kotoko fans to survive- Dr. Prosper Ogum

Asante Kotoko coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has charged supporters to rally behind returning striker, Kwame Poku in order to ensure progress at the club. The 27-year-old has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the Porcupine Warriors, marking his return for a second stint. Poku returns after three seasons of unsuccessful experiences in Algeria and Morocco.

Speaking ahead of Kotoko’s super clash with arch rivals, Hearts of Oak, Dr. Ogum praised the return of Kwame Opoku, describing him as having an “eye for goal.”

“We know he has the eye for goal and that is why we are bringing him on board to come and score, either scoring or assisting other teammates to also score.

“We only have to support him emotionally, and psychologically to let him believe that he is a good quality player and that is why we brought him on board,” Dr. Ogum said.

“As a coach, I am happy that he is back to the club,” he added.

“He is a fine striker, fine player, I like his level of professionalism,” Ogum told the media.

Dr. Prosper Ogum also expressed his outfit is poised to battle it out with Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

“The mentality at training with the players, technical staff and everyone is very positive and we are very poised”- he said.

Asante Kotoko are currently seventh on the Premier League standings with 18 points while Heart of Oak sit sixth spot with 19 points after 12 matches into the campaign.

Kwame Poku could make his debut in the club’s game against their biggest rival, Hearts of Oak, on Sunday, December 15, 2024.
