Kumasi Asante Kotoko have issued out an official club statement, wishing head coach Prosper Ogum a successful recovery after the gaffer under went surgery after falling ill.

The illness was undisclosed by the club on the team’s official X account on Wednesday, but showcased their concern for the manager.

Our head coach, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has undergone a successful surgery after a short illness. We wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to having him back soon. Get well soon, Coach, they wrote.

Prosper Ogum steered Kotoko to a sixth placed finish in the just ended 2023/24 Ghana Premier league season, leaving fans disgruntled with performances and results throughout the campaign.

The Porcupine Warriors -under Ogum- won their first Ghana Premier League crown in the 2022 season, as the manager kicked off his first stint in style.

However, an abysmal performance in the just ended season has seen a massive player overhaul, with 21 players departing the club – including prominent figures Richmond Lamptey & Danlad Ibrahim.

Kotoko will hope the manager recovers in time for the maiden edition of the Demoncracy Cup – against Hearts of Oak- on July 5, 2024.
