Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Nartey Ogum, has clarified the reason behind restricting players from watching footage of their late fan, Nana Pooley.

Following their 2-0 victory over Legon Cities, the experienced sports psychologist and educationist revealed that this move was a deliberate psychological strategy aimed at keeping the team focused on the title race.

“The more you watch certain events, the more attached you become to the events that you watch. So the more you are attached to somebody and you cannot see the person again, in order to reduce the emotional pain, one of the key ways to overcome it or to reduce the pain is to be sure that you distance yourself from videos and publications about that person. If you have a catalogue of photos and videos with him or about him, you have to stop watching them”

Kumasi Asante Kotoko came back strong with a 2-0 win over Legon Cities at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, moving them to the top of the table, tied with Bibiani GoldStars on 37 points.

Kotoko had not featured in a competitive game since February 2 after the tragic passing of Nana Pooley, in their matchday 19 clash against Nsoatreman.
