Kofi Donkor, the manager and husband of renowned gospel musician Celestine Donkor, has publicly called out popular streaming platform Boomplay for failing to pay royalties owed to his artist. In a passionate Facebook post, Donkor urged Boomplay to settle the outstanding payments before it closes its Ghana office. He wrote,
“Boomplay, pay us our royalties before you close down the Ghana office on Friday!!”
Speaking exclusively to MyJoyOnline, Donkor revealed that Celestine Donkor has not received any royalties from Boomplay in over a year.
“They haven’t made a payment in over a year. Additionally, I’ve heard that they intend to close their Ghanaian office. We must withdraw our funds immediately,” he stated in an interview with myjoyonline.
Donkor’s remarks come amid rumors of Boomplay’s impending closure of its office in Ghana, which has sparked widespread speculation about the future of the streaming service in the country. Sources close to the platform suggest that the closure of the Ghana office may be linked to broader challenges faced by Boomplay in the region, though official confirmation of the closure has yet to be made.
