#IWD2023: GFA and Betway hold training seminar for women’s league clubs

The Ghana Football Association in collaboration with development partners BETWAY held a women’s league and development program for women’s league and administrators as part of the International Women’s Day celebration.

The mentorship program for the southern sector took place at the Lancaster hotel in Kumasi while the Labadi beach hotel hosted the northern sector for the respective clubs.

The training intends to equip the women’s league clubs the expertise and significant skills to aid them improve upon their performance and

Vice president of the women’s league madam Roselyn Amoh highlighted the possible impact of the leadership and development training program on the clubs as well as other participants.

“At the end of each season we do a review so we look at the structures how people are implementing what is required of them; player administration, player management, technical, upgrading, coaching branding and marketing these are things that is part of the club licensing requirement.” She noted.

She further revealed that they review every season to examine the impact the seminar had on their performances and get rid of those that are not helpful.

“So at the end of each season we have a review meeting to assess how it has impacted the club. It would have to reflect in their performances, how they run their things and once they are able to do that and we know where we need to up the game with regards to further upgrading and what we need to scrap because eventfully it is not having the needed impact” She added.

Women’s football has not been on the level that many would expect as compared to the men’s game hence this initiative by the Ghana football Association in collaboration with the women’s league board to educate the Women league clubs and administrators on the relevant skills and knowledge required to enhance and elevate the standard of Women’s football in Ghana.
