The blow to Medeama’s title defense

Defending the Bet Pawa Premier League title in Ghana is not an easy feat but losing an inspirational figure in the dressing room makes the task insurmountable.

During the 2022/23 season, Vincent Atinga consistently won Man of the Match awards in the Ghana Premier League ; this contributed significantly to Medeama’s historic title triumph of which became the first in the Mauve and Yellows history.

Vincent Atinga demonstrated exceptional goal scoring prowess en route to the title scroing an all time personal high of 11 goals throughout the 2022/23 campaign, with 9 of his 11 strikes coming from the spot.

He made a total of 74 appearances for the Yellow and Mauve boys whiles scoring 21 goals in that period.

Elsewhere, Atinga’s sensational season was duly awarded at the inaugural edition of the Ghana Football Association Awards night last Saturday, where the defender was adjudged the Ghana Premier League Best player for the 22/33 Bet Pawa Premier League season.

His departure would send jitters across the Medeama locker room but may put smiles on the faces of opposition teams.

Medeama is faced with an insurmountable task to bring in a replacement that fits the criteria of goal scoring coupled with experience and leadership skills.
