Over 80 serving officers in the Ghana Police Service have sued the IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare and Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame over delays in promotions due them according to the service regulations.

The plaintiffs aver that the Police Service has failed to promote them after successful completion of studies which is line with the study leave with pay policy of the Service.

In a lawsuit dated May 15,2023 filed at an Accra High Court , the officers led by Deputy Inspector Kofi Osal indicates that the concerned personnel were denied entry into the Police College after passing their exams and successful completion of their programmes of study during the 2017/2018 intake period.

According to the officers, pleas sent to the officials of the Service for their promotions have not yielded any tangible results despite numerous attempts to avert the attention of the team to do the needful.

The complainants are therefore requesting that the court issue an order directed against the 2nd and 3rd defendants to grant the plaintiffs who qualify for accelerated promotions.

They are also demanding that a permit is given to the plaintiffs who qualify to enter the Police College without further delay.
