Ghana’s number one Tennis Top Seed, Samuel Antwi has described 2022 as his best tennis season. Antwi won five of the six national ranking tournaments, which comprises the trans-light solar super cup, Accra senior Open championship, Obuasi Invitational open tennis tournament as well as clinching two gold medals and one silver medal for KNUST at the GUSA games in Kumasi.
Winning the last national ranking tour (6) has made him secure the number one spot ending the year as Ghana’s number one male tennis player.
Speaking to Univers Sports, Samuel Antwi mentioned some of the tennis tournaments he won in 2022.
2022 season has been a great, I started 2022 well winning the first national ranking tournament of the year from there I was able to win five of the six national ranking tournament and also I won other major tournaments which includes, Translight solar super cup, Obuasi invitational tennis tournament, then Accra senior open tennis championship. I can say that 2022 has been one of my best tennis seasons having won ten of the last eleven tennis tournaments in Ghana currently, Antwi said.
Samuel Antwi shared his experience, on leading the KNUST tennis team to emerge as the overall champions of the tennis component of the GUSA games hosted by KNUST in 2022. He won two gold medals and a silver medal for KNUST at the Ghana universities Sports Association games in KNUST. He went on to share his expectations and targets ahead of 2023 with the biggest goal being to excel in tennis tournaments and represent Ghana at the upcoming all African games to be staged in Ghana next year.
I have had a great season this year and a good winning streak as well. I have made my target I want to achieve in 2023. I hope it bring good and better season than 2022 and I hope to win more tournaments and represent Ghana at the upcoming all African games 2023
