RNAQ stays defiant as wealth, divorce controversies fuel online debate

Ghanaian businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye has said he remains unfazed by the wave of criticism and online backlash surrounding his wealth and personal life, describing the controversy as an expected consequence of success and visibility.

Speaking on The Delay Show with media personality Deloris Frimpong Manso, RNAQ, as he is affectionately called, addressed questions about the sustained scrutiny he has faced, particularly across TikTok and other social media platforms.

“I sleep. I’m not bothered in any way,” he said. “One of my principles is that good people do not lack enemies, and all winners have haters. I’ve always expected people to talk about me.”

He framed the backlash as a “phase” tied to his current level of prominence, adding that public criticism was something he had long prepared for. Quaye also referenced guidance from his mentor, prominent businessman Osei Kwame Despite.

“He told me that God doesn’t give wealth to anybody who cannot carry it,” Quaye said. “The fact that I’ve been given this much means I’m capable of carrying it, so I should be bold and expect whatever comes.”

Quaye’s recent media appearance comes against the backdrop of sustained public scrutiny, driven not only by questions surrounding his business success but also renewed attention to his past marriage. His divorce proceedings attracted public interest at the time, with reports of legal disputes over financial settlements and subsequent allegations that escalated tensions between both parties.

Despite his outward calm, Quaye acknowledged that the situation has affected his family—particularly his mother.

“She’s my only concern,” he said. “I’m her only son, and we’re very close. She knows everything about me—the truths and the lies people tell.”

According to him, his mother is less concerned about the allegations themselves and more worried about the intensity of what he described as “ferocious lies” circulating online, and whether he can withstand them.

“She’s not too bothered about the things people say about me,” he said. “She’s worried about the fact that I may not be able to handle the ferocious lies that are being perpetrated against me. I think that’s her worry.”

Quaye maintained that he remains steady in the face of the criticism, reiterating his belief that scrutiny is an inevitable part of success.

“So, I’m okay; I’m calm,” he said.
