The 68th University of Ghana Students Representative Council (UGSRC) General Secretary, Hillary Philipa Nyarko, has expressed confidence in the long-term sustainability of the NUGS RENTCARE App, describing it as an initiative with the potential to benefit not only students but Ghanaians at large.
Her remarks follow the launch of the NUGS RENTCARE App at the SRC Union Building on the University of Ghana campus on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Speaking to Univers News, Hillary Nyarko said the SRC would play a central role in ensuring the effectiveness of the application through the establishment of a dedicated rent unit responsible for monitoring the platform and managing user feedback.
“It’s going to be sustainable because the various heads in the SRC are going to spearhead this through a rent unit that will be created. The unit will monitor the app and handle all the feedback gathered from users,” she said.
She noted that continuous improvements to the platform would help expand its reach and impact over time.
“I see a future for this app where, years from now, many people—not just students, but Ghanaians as well—will join the platform. As we continue to improve it, there will be significant changes and developments that will make it even more useful,” she added.
The NUGS RENTCARE App is designed to provide students with a more reliable and transparent platform for addressing accommodation-related concerns.
Developed and launched by the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), the RentCare Unit App is a digital initiative aimed at tackling the persistent accommodation and housing challenges faced by tertiary students across Ghana.
