GTDC has unveiled new tourism products

The Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) has held a day’s event at its premises in Accra to outdoor its new products and services aimed at placing tourism at the core of the country’s economic development.

The latest development forms part of the John Mahama-led administration’s reset agenda to leverage the vast potential of the country’s tourism assets to generate more revenue across the sector.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the event on May 13, 2026, the Board Chair of GTDC, Ben Ohene-Ayeh, stated that the entity is taking deliberate steps to encourage domestic tourism consumption in order to drive job creation and increase revenue for stakeholders in the sector.

“The plan of GTDC under the Mahama-led government is to redistribute national wealth through boosting domestic tourism, which creates jobs and generates sustainable income for stakeholders within the value chain,” he said.

“When we develop innovative tourism products and services, patrons spend money on accommodation, transportation, food from local eateries, and related services, which puts more money directly into the pockets of practitioners in the country’s hospitality industry while generating more revenue for national development,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Prof. Kobby Mensah, stated that the organisation is undergoing strategic restructuring and retooling to enhance the tourism products and services it operates in order to generate greater public interest in the sector.

“We, as the Ghana Tourism Development Company, are responsible for the commercialisation of tourism products and services in the country. We have therefore undergone a strategic realignment focused on a four-tier approach: strategic investment and development; cultural asset preservation and conservation to project what makes us unique as Ghanaians; technology and innovation to connect local tourist destinations to the world; and tourism and hospitality human resource development to strengthen the capacity of the workforce that creates memorable experiences for visitors,” he said.

Among the products and services captured under the realignment are the Ghana Tourism Marketplace, Fleet Pool Management Services, Big Tree Tourist Site, GH Tourism Calendar, Ghana Tourism Investment Platform, Accra by Night, Assin Manso Slave River Site, and Campus Connect Tours.

A new signage and logo were unveiled at the entrance of the company’s headquarters to climax the event.
