Kumasi Asante Kotoko’s head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, has expressed his displeasure about his side’s inability to put away their chances in their 1-0 defeat against Accra Great Olympics on Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

The Porcupine Warriors, buoyed by achieving the league double over fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in last weekends clash, were much fancied to emerge victorious against a struggling Great Olympics side.

However, top marksman Steve Mukwala’s failure to score his 15th league goal of the season from the spot, and move level with top scorer Steven Amankonah in the race for the golden boot gave Olympics a new sense of belief.

Mukwala’s 13th-minute penalty miss was capitalized upon by Olympics Raymond Grippman, two minutes before the break.

Although creating numerous chances, Kotoko failed to get back into the game, leaving the Porcupine Warriors in 10th position with 43 points after their latest defeat.

Pressed upon his team’s inability to utilize their opportunities, head coach Prosper Ogum bemoaned a lack of confidence as a resultant effect of the teams poor showing

We need to work harder than we have worked, especially in this game and especially in terms of the final phase of the game, where we have to score. I think we need to be more confident in front of goal. Once we are able to create, we can score, he said.

Kotoko, who are now set to finish the season with a points tally short of last season’(43), are bent on finishing the season on a high, with games against relegated Real Tamale United and Bofoakwa Tano next in line.
