The 2024/25 Ghana Premier League served up an electrifying set of matches, with some teams rising to the occasion and producing outstanding displays, while others defied expectations and fell short of predictions.
On Saturday, Heart of Lions remained at the top of the Premier League standings following their dominant 3-1 triumph over Basake Holy Stars at home. Two goals from Nana Kwame Oppong and Emmanuel Ofori Sakyi were enough to secure maximum points. Meanwhile, Emmanuel Agyei scored the consolation goal for the newcomers at the Kpando Stadium.
Asante Kotoko deepened Dreams FC’s struggles with a 2-1 win, leaving the “Still Believe” lads in the relegation zone. Baba Yahaya gave the Porcupine Warriors the lead at the Tuba Astro Turf, and Saaka Dauda extended it with a brilliant finish. Dreams FC’s only goal came through Joseph Esso in the 56th minute.
Bechem United secured their fifth consecutive win with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over defending champions FC Samartex 1996. Dalvin Yeboah scored the only goal of the match in the 47th minute at Nana Gyeabour Park.

Nations FC delivered a dominant 3-0 win over bottom-placed Legon Cities, further compounding their woes. Nafiu Sulemana netted a brace in the 7th and 39th minutes, and Barimah Baah added to the tally with a third goal at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese.
Bibiani Gold Stars FC triumphed 2-1 at home against Nsoatreman FC to maintain their second-place position. Michael Nkoah gave Frimpong Manso’s side the lead in the 45th minute, and Foster Agyei sealed the win with a second goal at Duns Park.
On Friday, Hearts of Oak made a bold statement at the University of Ghana after they outclassed Berekum Chelsea with a 3-1 victory. Ahmed Ramzy Yussif opened the scoring for the Phobians before striker Hamza Issah added the second. Chelsea pulled a goal back through Emmanuel Sarpong but Kwabena Boateng restored Hearts’ two-goal advantage with the third goal in the 62nd minute.
