Vice president of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has said that the government will be fully involved in the burial of the late Ghanaian Footballer, Christian Atsu.
The remains of former black star forward Christian Atsu arrived in Ghana yesterday at the Kotoka international airport where officials from the Ghana Football Association, Ministry of Youth and Sports, family of Christian Atsu, and well-wishers were in attendance to pay their respect to the Hatayspor player.
Addressing the public at the event, Dr. Bawumia reiterated government’s commitment to oversee a successful and befitting burial for Christian Atsu.
“Atsu’s twin sister and his brother accompanied him from Turkey home. I would like to extend my condolences to the entire family for this deep loss. I would also like to extend my condolences to the footballing skills played for the black stars he was much loved we will surely miss him would also like to extend my condolences to the Ghana supporters Union and to Ghanaians for this loss it is a painful loss very painful one as the good lord says in the good book that from him we came and to him shall we return. We pray that the soul of Christian Atsu rest in perfect peace in the bossom of the lord and I would like to say Government will be fully involved with the family in providing him a befitting burial”
GFA General Secretary, Prosper Harrison Addo also expressed his condolences to Atsu’s family and indicated that his outfit will work hand-in-hand with the family and the government to provide a befitting burial to the deceased black star player.
“People are sharing testimony about how he supported and helped them. We are reminded of the joy he brought to us on that note the football family would stand shoulder to shoulder with the family and indeed the government of Ghana so that together we will give a befitting burial to our star who brought joy to our hearts”
Upon arrival of Christian Atsu’s remains yesterday at the Kotoka international airport, the Family, Ghana Football Association and government is yet to determine the actual date Atsu’s burial will be held.
