The government has as part of its obligations to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), released funds to support preparations toward the 2025 WASSCE which kicks off in August.
The development comes as the government caters for the full payment of the upcoming WASSCE practicals for students in Senior High Schools across the country.
In a statement dated July 27,signed by the Head of Public Relations for the Ghana Education Service, Daniel Fenyi, the payment is indicative of the government’s commitment to relieving financial burdens of students and Ghanaian parents at large.
The release further stated that the payment is intended to cater for the full costs of the WASSCE practicals, as the main Examinations begin next month.
“The release of the funds is to make room for the smooth conduct of the upcoming WASSCE practicals whilst allowing students to focus solely on academic issues, whilst relieving parents of the associated financial burden during this time.”
The Ghana Education Service strongly urged regional, district and school authorities to strictly commit the resources for the stated purpose.
It further cautioned that there are steps being put in place to monitor the effective and efficient use of the resources to ensure full accountability and transparent use of the resources.
“The appropriate authorities must endure that the resources released by government is strictly used for the intended purposes and such, steps are being taken to check how the disbursements and usage is applied in the coming days.
This exercise falls in line with the high standards and excellence the WASSCE exams is known for.”
This year’s practical exams for the WASSCE starts from August 4, 2025.
