Today marks a historic moment in the Republic of Ghana as the Chief Justice swears in the country’s first female Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
She joins President John Dramani Mahama as he begins his second term in office.
Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s inauguration is a groundbreaking achievement, making her the first woman to hold one of the highest offices in the nation.
She will also be the first woman to hold the state sword and be sworn in as the official Second Lady.
While this milestone is widely celebrated, it comes with significant responsibility. Many Ghanaians, especially women, look to her to create more opportunities, challenge inequality, and oppose policies that sideline women.
Expectations are high for her to champion gender equality and drive progress for women across the country.
