In a move to demand social security and national insurance trust (SSNIT) to terminate their involvement in the sale of four hotels, the Ghana Medical Association and other branches of Organized Labour have called for action. The decision was reached during an emergency meeting on July 12, 2024, setting the stage for potential industrial action.
The Ghana Medical Association, in a press statement following the meeting, outlined a roadmap for industrial action. Beginning on July 15, 2024, there will be a withdrawal of outpatient department (ODP) services until July 17. This will be followed by a withdrawal of emergency services from July 18 to July 21, and ultimately, a complete service withdrawal starting from July 22, 2024.
This push for change highlights the growing concerns and demands of the Organized Labour, particularly in relation to the involvement of SSNIT in the hotel sales.
