Ghana has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.
The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Kurt Okraku, revealed the news in a Facebook post, marking another major milestone in Ghana’s growing reputation as a destination for major continental tournaments.
The competition will bring together some of Africa’s brightest young talents, providing a platform for the next generation of stars to showcase their abilities.
Ghana boasts a rich history at youth level and remains one of Africa’s most successful nations in the tournament. The Black Satellites have won the competition four times and famously became the first African nation to win the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2009.
Hosting the tournament is expected to further support football development in the country, while also delivering economic benefits and improving sports infrastructure as well as marketing the Ghana Premier League to a global audience.
It also offers Ghana another opportunity to demonstrate its ability to successfully host major football competitions, having staged several CAF and FIFA events in recent years.
Further details on venues, dates, and logistics are expected to be announced by CAF in the coming months.
