The Ghana Football Association has appointed Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Ghana national football team, a decision already stirring debate among fans and pundits.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United coach takes charge ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Ghana will compete in a tough group featuring Panama, England, and Croatia.

Queiroz arrives with a strong World Cup résumé, having guided South Africa to qualification in 2002, led Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, and managed Iran at the 2014 and 2018 tournaments.

He has also had coaching stints in Egypt, Oman, Japan, and Qatar.

Now, all eyes will be on whether his experience translates into success for Ghana—or if the GFA’s bold call will backfire on the biggest stage.
