Former Vice President of the University of Ghana Student Representative Council,  Moses Baafi Acheampong has served notice of his intentions to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

Moses Baafi Acheampong made this known in a press release on January 30, 2023.

“ By this release , I wish to officially declare my intentions to contest in the upcoming parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress in the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.” The release said.

He said the decision to run for the position was influenced by data that suggests the NDC can easily win the Parliamentary seat.

The decision to avail myself to serve the party as a candidate has been inspired by my long standing desire to see the NDC annex the seat ,which data implicitly espouses is a winnable seat , the ambition has been further fueled by a personal pledge to serve people of this constituency through a shared focus in unity, competence, and dedication “, portions of the statement read.

He believes that based on the  data and trend analysis of the NDC’s performance in the constituency since the 2000 general elections, the party can make significant inroads and snatch the seat from the governing New Patriotic Party in the 2024 contest,

“ On the face of data of past elections within the constituency , it is abundantly clear that the NDC can snatch the seat through intensified and enhanced sacrifices . We need to come together now more than ever to ensure that we are well represented as a party and much more dedicated to the general interests of our people. This can be achieved by electing a candidate who is a unifier, easily accessible, focused, humble, highly conscientious and , lastly , is well versed in the political climate of the constituency , having a deep understanding of the existing dynamics within the constituency”, the statement further espoused.

He further implored the delegates and well-wishers of the party to offer the needed guidance, prayers, and support to help make his long-held dream a reality.

“   I crave the indulgence of all well wishers , delegates of the NDC to offer prayers , guidance support and good counsel to make his desires come true “, the concluding part of the statement read.

Moses Baafi Acheampong,  during his undergraduate studies at the University of Ghana, read  Pharmacy for his first degree and continued with a Postgraduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB).
