The immediate past SRC President of the University of Ghana, Maradona Adjei Yeboah, popularly known as Guru NKZ, in collaboration with the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, has commissioned a newly constructed sick bay at Alexander Adum Kwapong Hall.
Speaking at the ceremony, Adjei Yeboah noted that the project was one of his promises during his tenure and that he was determined to fulfill it even after leaving office.
“It was our plan to start something like this. It is a dream that every hall would have its own sick bay to assist students during emergencies. We hope this initiative will positively impact the lives of students, and we are glad to have started it here. I believe subsequent administrations will continue this by establishing sick bays in other halls,” he said.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Rosina Kyerematen, commended him for his commitment and urged upcoming student leaders to emulate his example by fulfilling the promises they make to students. She also revealed that management would soon assign a nurse to the facility and encouraged patience as the process unfolds.
“We will deploy a nurse here soon—perhaps even engage student nurses who wish to volunteer. I trust that this facility will be properly maintained and serve its intended purpose. I hope future student leaders will look to this and continue the good work of the past administration,” she remarked.

The Senior Hall Tutor of Alexander Adum Kwapong Hall, Dr. Mark Obeng, also praised the initiative and expressed pride in his hall being the first on campus to have such a facility. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the project for long-term benefit.
“This is the first time we’re having a sick bay, and it has started here at Kwapong. We should all be proud of this achievement. I urge everyone to help maintain it and ensure that the purpose of this project is fulfilled. There’s nothing like a poor maintenance culture—what we often lack is an adequate maintenance budget. If we get the right allocation, we’ll do the needful,” he stated.

Dr. Obeng added that the facility is expected to enhance the well-being of all students, not just residents of Kwapong Hall.
“The facility is meant to serve everyone. If a visitor to the hall needs medical attention, we will not deny them help,” he concluded.
