Female Ghanaian Gospel musician Empress Gifty has shared the story behind creating her latest song, ‘‘Watch Me”.

In an interview on 3Lounge, she revealed that the song was prophesied earlier this year by Prophet Eric Boahen, who told her in February that a new song would “blow her away,” even before it was composed.

”Watch me, I think February, my prophet, prophet Eric called me and then he said Empress, I know you are done with your album but there’s this song that is coming up and that song will blow you. I said, oh I’m done with my songs, I’m okay. He said, okay. Then I tap into it, I said okay, I received it, it will come to pass.”

The prophecy came to life in April after her Trec concert, when Kuami Eugene reached out with a song that resonated perfectly with the prophecy.

”So in April, we did Trec and after Trec I have to release the song. So after Trec and the Kwame said, Empress, I have a song for you. So it was February and now we are in April and then he said I have a song for you and this song, the message is for you. So when he sent the song, I said, okay. Then I started reflecting on the journey of the prophets. This is the song.”

She further addressed misconceptions and judgments from those who have never had a personal encounter with her. She emphasized the importance of allowing God’s actions to speak louder than words of naysayers.

”They have to watch me. You see, sometimes people can sit down and say a lot of things about you because they have never encountered you. It’s about time God needs to do something without you even saying it. It has to reflect on you for people to watch you.”

”Watch Me,” her first single for 2024, was officially released on September 8.
