Emerse Faé, former Ivorian football star, takes the reins as Head Coach of the Ivorian National team.

Faé played a pivotal role in leading the team to victory in the 2023 African Cup of Nations, hosted in their homeland.

After securing only one victory in three games during the African Cup of Nations Group Stage, the Ivorian FA made the decision to relieve Head Coach Jean-Louis Gasset of his duties.

Assistant coach Emerse Faé was entrusted with leading the team for the remainder of the 2023 AFCON games.

The talented Ivorian footballer, whose promising career ended abruptly on February 1, 2012, at the age of 28 due to recurring blood clots, represented English club Reading FC from 2007 to 2009.

He made a remarkable debut as the manager of the Ivorian national team at the 2023 AFCON tournament, leading his team to eliminate defending champions Senegal in their first competitive match.

He subsequently defeated Mali in the quarter-final stages and again eliminated the Democratic Republic of Congo in the semi-finals to book a spot in the final against Nigeria.

Faé achieved his first-ever coaching victory by leading Ivory Coast to triumph over Nigeria in the 2023 AFCON final, securing both his personal milestone and Ivory Coast’s third continental crown.

Faé was appointed as interim manager on his 40th birthday, 24th January, and went on to deliver the best gift to Ivorians on February 11, 2024.

He launched his coaching journey with the U-19 squad at French club Nice in 2012, where he honed his skills until 2021. Subsequently, he transitioned to overseeing the reserve team at Clermont Foot 63.

The immediate challenge for the newly appointed Ivorian manager entails safeguarding the championship at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco, while also steering the Elephants back to the FIFA World Cup.
