Founder and Overseer of Alive Chapel International Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako, and his wife Mouha Amoako, arrested yesterday, have been arraigned and granted bail.

Their case was called at the Accra Circuit Court today, October 16, 2024.

Also, appearing with Bishop Amoako and his wife was one Linda Bonsu Bempah, who allegedly was the rumoured personal assistant (PA) who originally had the keys to the Jaguar vehicle recognised in the East Legon accident which ended in the incineration of two 12-year-olds, last Saturday.

Prophet Elisha Salifu, his wife Mouha and Linda Bonsu Bempah, an employee of the elder brother of the minor driver pleaded not guilty to the charge of permitting an unlicensed person to drive.

In court on Wednesday, the trio were handed a GHC50,000 bail with two sureties each.

Prosecution noted that per the facts of the case, while celebrating the 25th birthday of his elder brother Elyon Amoako, Ms. Bonsu Bempah, allegedly gave the key to a Jaguar F- Pace Sport SUV owned by Mrs. Amoako, to the 16-year-old, despite knowing he possessed no license.

The minor is alleged to have then driven the vehicle with another passenger, a friend heading towards the Bawaleshie direction on the Dzanie Ashie street. Upon reaching a section of the road at Mensah Wood Avenue junction, he drove into the rear of an Acura 4×4 vehicle.

The impact of the collision drove both vehicles across the road into a fence wall of a nearby house. The vehicles then erupted into flames trapping the occupants of the Acura SUV. Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh Boateng – both 12 years of age lost their lives in the wreckage with the vehicles burning beyond recognition.

The juvenile driver and two other occupants who survived the crash, are currently on admission at the University of Ghana Medical Center. Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and his wife, are said to have admitted allowing their minor son, drive to the gym in their neighborhood and other places during investigations.

Meanwhile, sympathizers and congregants of Bishop Amoako and his family, assaulted journalists who were in court following up on the beat and prevented them from taking videos of the accused persons.

They also assaulted a police officer on duty at the court, who tried to intervene in the melee.
