Election’24: Police patrol at Anglican School park heightens tensions among voters in Ningo-Prampram Constituency

At the Anglican school park polling station in the Ningo-Prampram constituency, the exercise has been peaceful however, around 12:00 pm today, about 10 police officers arrived at Anglican Park on motorbikes, sparking a sense of unease among voters.

The officers, part of a patrol team from the national headquarters, made rounds to all seven polling stations in the area unknown to voters hence striked fear amongst them

Upon inquiry, the officers explained that their presence was part of a routine observation to monitor the ongoing elections. They clarified that their role was purely to observe and ensure that the election process was proceeding smoothly.

However, the large number of officers caused some tension, with many voters left wondering about the necessity of such a strong presence.

Despite the heightened atmosphere, many voters continued to wait in line to cast their ballots, while the elderly were provided with chairs to rest.

In the Ningo-Prampram Constituency, the race for the parliamentary seat is heating up with three major contenders vying for the position.

The sitting Member of Parliament, Hon. George Samuel Nartey, popularly known as (Dzata), is once again contesting on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He faces strong competition from Michael Tetteh, a candidate from the opposition, and Evans Tetteh Nartey, (ETN), who is running as an independent candidate, as well as Frederick Forzie
