Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress’s Director of Elections and IT  has issued a stern warning to the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, urging them to halt any attempts to interfere with the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections.

In a passionate message titled “ELECTORAL COMMISSION STOP IT!” on his Facebook wall, he called out the actions of two top officials within the EC who he claims are trying to impose Presiding Officers and Presidential Ballot Issuers on certain Regional Directors and District Electoral Officers.

With only 147 days left until the elections, Dr. Omane Boamah highlighted the dissatisfaction and near-revolt among EC staff due to various factors. He warned that the discontented staff are likely to leak information about these intrusive orders, making it impossible for such actions to go unnoticed.

“Your staff on the ground are already dissatisfied and almost revolted a few weeks ago because of several other factors,” Dr. Omane Boamah stated.

“Because your staff on the ground are sufficiently angry, dissatisfied, and unwilling to carry out your intrusive orders, they will continue to leak your orders to us”

He further warned the EC officials against being used by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to execute dubious strategies, suggesting that there will be lawful consequences for any such actions.

“Don’t allow yourselves to be used by the failed and incompetent NPP to serve the ends of their dubious so-called STRATEGY! If you do, there shall be lawful consequences soon,” he cautioned.
