As part of its efforts in deliberating climate change issues, the 7th African Evidence to Action Conference and Exhibition (E2A 24), has wrapped up successfully at the ISSER Conference Facility at the University of Ghana with a closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony, held on Friday, July 26, 2024, was put into two folds; the first session featured a panel of distinguished researchers who expanded thoroughly on secular economy.

The second session concluded with a closing ceremony, during which Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, delivered the closing remark.

The 5-day program was under the theme ‘Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation’, which explored the linkages and synergies between resilience and climate change adaptation, addressing critical impacts of climate change in Africa.

Highlighting on secular economy, Deputy National Director of A Rocha Ghana, Mr. Daryl Bosu, emphasized the need to eliminate the concept ‘waste’ when addressing the topic of secularity.

“If we are talking about secularity, then there is nothing like waste because once you have your raw material, every other thing is a by-product so I’m thinking we need to come to a point where our discussion of secularity should even exclude the term ‘waste’ where everything else is a by-product and it only goes through a convention from one material to the other,” he noted.

Delivering the closing remarks, Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources and MP for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Hon. Lydia Seyram Alhassan expressed her profound gratitude to attendees for dedicating five days to the event.

“As we draw the curtain of the 7th Evidence to Action conference now, I wish to express my profound gratitude to all of you for taking this five days off, five days of your precious time to attend this all -important conference.”

“I am profoundly encouraged by the strides we have made in addressing climate change in Africa. Throughout our time together, we have explored crucial initiative that promise to reshape our approach to environmental sustainability and resilience,” she said.

Hon. Lydia Seyram, also, highlighted the conference’s focus on evidence-based approaches driving actionable solutions, from sustainable agriculture to resilient infrastructure, and praised the invaluable exchange of knowledge among academicians, scientists, policymakers, and activists.

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, together we have examined how evidence -based approaches can drive actionable solutions from sustainable agriculture to resilient infrastructure. From my side, the exchange of knowledge and experience among academicians, scientists, policymakers, and activists in the past few days has been invaluable and timely,” she noted.
