Leadership of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) and the Colleges of Education Non-Teaching Staff Association of Ghana (CENTSAG) have reactivated their indefinite industrial action, effective Monday, 14th November, 2022.
This comes after government failed to resolve concerns voiced about working conditions and welfare issues of workers in Colleges of Education over the past years.
In a joint statement released by both groups on November 6, 2022, the government was given a five-day ultimatum by the two groups to address issues being faced by their members. The groups also threatened to resume their indefinite industrial actions that had been suspended on January 24 and April 14, 2022, respectively, if their demands weren’t met within the given timeline.
Some of the issues resulting in the strike include “non-finalisation of Conditions of Service (CoS) negotiations, effective date for placing First Degree Holders, retrospective deductions, variation of fuel, vehicle maintenance and off- campus allowance as well as compensation for the all-year-round work”.
The National Councils of CETAG and CENTSAG have therefore advised it’s members, to comply with the decision to withdraw their services indefinitely until all concerns regarding workers are addressed.
