The Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG) has served notice of its intention to embark on an industrial action effective August 1,2023.
According to a press release by the association, the development comes on the back of unresolved grievances among its members.
Following its National Delegates Conference, the association released a statement indicating that all tutors from the 46 Colleges of Education across the country will abstain from their duties until their employer , in this case, the government fully complies with the directives of the National Labour Commission earlier in the year.
The Association is specifically seeking that the government implement the full demands of an Arbitrary Award Order issued by the NLC on May 2 this year.
Despite several advances of the leadership of CETAG towards government to implement the order, no amicable solution has been reached between both parties leading to the current impasse.
The following are the demands being put forth by CETAG;
- Full payment of 7 months salary arrears owed members and allowances captured in the conditions of service.
- Additional payment of 1 month salary to all members as allowance for extra duties in 2022.
- Publication of Staff Audit Report and extension of public universities allowances to deserving members.
- Immediate release of leave rosters to tutors to take 15 days leave for the year 2022.
- Unconditional cancellation of the killer ‘all year round academic year calendar beginning from the 2023/2024 academic year.
The press release dated July 31,2023 instructs all branch associations to swiftly act on this decision and abide accordingly.
