Head Coach of the Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, believes Ghana’s senior women’s national team is set for a highly challenging encounter as they face the Lionesses of England in an international friendly.
The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, where the Queens will be looking to assess their progress against one of the world’s top sides.
Addressing the media ahead of the game, Coach Bjorkegren described the fixture as the toughest test his side will face, noting that England’s quality makes the encounter an important measure of the team’s development.
He acknowledged that while the Black Queens have shown improvements, they must continue to push themselves against elite opposition.
“We know that we have some qualities. Of course, we are maybe not top five in the world yet, but we need to challenge ourselves,” he stated.
Bjorkegren further pointed out that playing England away provides a clear opportunity to evaluate both the team’s strengths and the areas that need refining.
“Games like this will challenge us for sure, and we’re going to see how good we are,” he noted.
He also highlighted the long-term significance of such matches, adding that strong performances at this level will support Ghana’s efforts to climb the FIFA Women’s Rankings.
According to him, the aim is to identify what needs improvement “to jump when it comes to the FIFA ranking and make sure to be one of the best teams in Africa.”
The Black Queens continue their rebuilding process under Bjorkegren, with the match expected to offer valuable insight as they prepare for future competitions.
