The Black Queens of Ghana have taken a significant step toward qualifying for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Ghana recorded an impressive 3–0 victory over Egypt in the first leg of their final qualifying tie at the Suez Canal Stadium on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring for the Queens in the 42nd minute, before substitute Mary Amponsah and Grace Asantewaa added two late goals in the 86th and 90+3 minutes respectively to seal a commanding win away from home.
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren and his squad are now just one step away from securing back-to-back qualifications for the continental tournament as they prepare to host Egypt in the return leg at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
