Communications Director of Kpando Heart of Lions, Eric Eli Adzie, has hailed head coach Bashir Hayford as the most experienced tactician in the upcoming GHALCA Top 4 tournament.

Set to kick off on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, the highly anticipated tournament promises thrilling encounters to keep fans entertained during the off-season.

In the opening fixtures, Bibiani Gold Stars FC will face Asante Kotoko at 3:00 PM, followed by a blockbuster clash between Hearts of Oak and Heart of Lions at 6:00 PM.

Action continues on Friday, August 22, as Gold Stars battle Hearts of Oak, while Heart of Lions take on Asante Kotoko in another high-stakes encounter.

The final round of matches on Sunday, August 24, will see Gold Stars lock horns with Heart of Lions, before arch-rivals Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak close the tournament in a mouthwatering finale.

Speaking on Sports Night on Radio Univers, Mr. Adzie expressed confidence in his team’s chances, branding them as favorites to lift the title while also acknowledging the strength of their opponents.

“I think Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are the only teams that have won ahead of us. And if you look at our performance last season, we lost the league to Gold Stars by just three points. These are all big boys when it comes to football.

“If you look at the four coaches coming for this particular tournament, our coach, Bashir Hayford, is the most senior among all of them. And if you look at the history of the GHALCA Top 4 competition, he has won it three times with three different clubs.

“He has won it with Heart of Lions, Kotoko, and Ashanti Gold. None of the other three compatriots have actually won it three times. So we come in as favourites, but we will not be underestimating our competitors because football is full of uncertainty,” he said.

Radio Univers 105.7 FM will provide live commentary for all six matches of the GHALCA Top 4 tournament taking place at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
