The Atuabo Gas Processing Plant, located in Ghana’s Western Region, will undergo a routine maintenance exercise starting August 16, lasting for a period of two weeks.

The development follows the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition’s approval of a request from the Ghana National Gas Company to carry out this strategic exercise to enhance the plant’s performance.

In a statement signed by the Corporate Communications Manager of the Ministry of Energy, Richmond Rockson, the ministry emphasised the urgency of the maintenance works, which the company’s engineers will undertake to optimise the plant’s functions.

“Ghana Gas will temporarily suspend the supply of gas to its clients during the two weeks to facilitate the process, which will include repair works, inspections, and system support upgrades aimed at improving the operational efficiency of this vital facility in the country’s oil and gas industry,” the statement said.

The ministry further indicated that it is working around the clock to engage stakeholders in the value chain to avert any unforeseen impact on the country’s short-term power generation needs.

The general public has also been assured that, during the maintenance period, alternative measures will be employed to stabilise the national grid and ensure uninterrupted power supply.
