Ghanaian forward Iñaki Williams has further etched his name in Athletic Bilbao history following his strike against Osasuna at the San Mamés on Saturday night, taking his career goals for the Spanish side to 100.

Iñaki, although born to Ghanaian parents, was birthed in the Basque town of Bilbao and has risen from the youth ranks of Athletic through to his first season in the senior setup in the 2014/15 campaign.

Having previously held the record of playing 251 consecutive games without injuries, Iñaki has added a significant milestone to his career.

Iñaki was set up by Ander Herrera to halve the deficit for Athletic, who were down by 2 goals against Osasuna before a late stoppage time goal from Assier Villalibre kept their Uefa Champions League pursuit alive.

The goal for the 29-year-old Ghanaian sent his season tally to 12 – his best goal scoring returns since the 2018/19 season.

Subsequently, Iñaki’s fine strike against Osasuna was his 76th la Liga goal, alongside 16 Copa Del Rey goals, 7 Europa League goals and 1 Super Copa strike.

A delighted Iñaki kept it succinct as he took to his X account to celebrate his milestone.

“One day your reality will be better than your dreams, so much so. 100 goals for me at Athletic Bilbao. Thanks to everyone. Let’s go for more,” he wrote.

Bilbao are still in the running for a place in next season’s Uefa Champions League, with Simeone’s Atletico Madrid widening the gap between the sides to 8 points.
