Former President and National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer John Mahama has criticized the Ghanaian government, claiming that the seat of government is a hub of misinformation.

Speaking to party supporters in the Upper East Region, Mahama suggested that President Akufo-Addo address issues within his administration before commenting on misinformation at the Ghana Report Summit.

Mahama contended that the President’s Office, also known as the Flag Staff House, misrepresented his remarks at Bawku Naaba’s Palace concerning creating a new region. He emphasized that his comments were focused on the economic implications and processes involved in establishing the region, rather than targeting any specific area.

“I saw a fake news story in the evening that completely misrepresented what I said, attempting to pit me against the Manprugu State. I never mentioned Manprugu State at all; I discussed land size, regional comparisons, and economic viability. What the President may not realize is that his office, the Flag Staff House, is the headquarters of misinformation. That is where they create fake stories, misrepresent what people have said, and disseminate them on social media. He should clean up his own house before addressing misinformation elsewhere.”
