Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has cautioned Asante Kotoko against the continued practice of housing players in a communal clubhouse setting, warning that it could lead to greater chaos in the near future.
His comments come in the wake of explosive allegations made by former midfielder Justice Blay, who, in a recent interview, claimed that some Kotoko players engaged in inappropriate conduct—including alcohol abuse and the snatching of teammates’ girlfriends—while in camp.
Reacting to the development, Badu expressed concern over the potential breakdown of discipline and professionalism within such a living arrangement.
Speaking on Luv FM, the former Udinese player urged Kotoko’s management to rethink the model and instead focus on supporting players to secure independent accommodation, which he believes would foster personal responsibility, privacy, and a more stable team environment.
‘But what I can say is, I’ve been a professional footballer before. If it’s not camping, grouping players, in a place like this, and a huge crowd at Asante Kotoko, financially, the team is very strong. They should disperse them and let them get their own households, so that there can be peace,” he said.
“It won’t be only today, maybe next year, maybe in years to come, you might be having a lot of chaotic scenes like this. It’s just unnecessary. He wants to defend himself, but he defended himself in a way that is not good,” he added.
