AFCON 2023: Top 10 Highest Paid Coaches

A few days more to the start of the 2023 African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Ivory Coast(AFCON).Ivory Coast will host the whole of Africa for the second time in history and the first since they last did in 1984.

Before the start of the tournament,we previewed the top 10 highest-paid coaches in the 2023 AFCON.

The top 10 highest-paid coaches in the 2023 AFCON .

1. Djamel Belmadi- €208,000 per month.
46-year-old Belmadi became the manager of the Algerian national team on August 2,2018. Belmadi led Algeria to success and earned his first international trophy for Algeria after his team defeated every opponent en route to the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Egypt,including two victories over Senegal in the group stage and the final.

He is the highest paid coach at the forthcoming  AFCON with his salary estimated to be €208,000 per month.

2. Rui Victoria- €200,000 per month.
53-year-old Rui Vitória became the manager of the Egyptian national team On 12 July 2022, signing on a four-year contract after previously coaching Benfica, Al Nassr and Spartak Moscow.Vitoria takes home a whooping €200,000 on a monthly basis as part of his contractual agreement with Egypt.

3. Jean Louis Gasset – €108,000 per month.
The 70-year-old is a French former midfielder and current manager of the Ivory Coast National Team. The Ivorian Gaffer earns a staggering €108,000 per month.

4. José Peseiro – €70,000 per month.
Tasked to lead the Super Eagles to their 4th continental crown is Jose Peseiro.On 15 May 2022, Peseiro was appointed as the new head coach of the Nigerian Mens Football Team.The 63-year-old Portuguese international has coached several clubs in his country, including Sporting CP and Fc Porto. He also worked as head Coach of the Saudi Arabia national team.

He takes home a monthly pay of €70,000 per month.

5. Walid Regragui- €60,000 per month.
Having led Morocco Into the 2022 FIFA World Cup knockout stage for the first time since 1986 and to the quarter-finals after beating Spain on penalties in the round of 16,Walid will lead the Moroccan National team to the 2023 AFCON as the 5th highest paid coach.

6. Hugo Broos – €50,000 per month.
After being appointed Head Coach of the Bafana Bafana of South Africa On 5 May 2021, Hugo Broos will participate in the AFCON tournament for the second time in his career after He led the Cameroon National team to victory in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations triumph.

7. Aliou Cissé – €46,000 per month.
47-year-old Aliou Cisse will attempt to defend the AFCON trophy in 2023 after he led Senegal to victory at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. In the final, they beat Egypt 4–2 on penalties to clinch their first title.

8. Chris Hughton- €46,000 per month.
Black Stars Head Coach Chris Hughton is the 8th highest-paid Coach at the 2023 African Cup of Nations Tournament. The 65-year-old was appointed as head coach of the Ghana national team On 12 February 2023 and will lead the team to his first-ever AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast. 

9. Rigobert Song – €29,000 per month.
Cameroon Head Coach Rigobert Song ranks 9th among the highest-paid coaches at the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament. After hosting the previous edition and making it into the semi-finals on home soil, Song will be hoping to make it past a semifinal spot in Ivory Coast. 

10. Jalal Kadri- €11,000 per month.
52-year-old Jalal Kadri is the 10th highest-paid Coach among the list of Coaches representing at the 2023 African Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast. Kadri was appointed as Tunisia’s head Coach on 23 January 2022.
