Ghana Premier League side Accra Lions are set to transfer their 18-year-old defender David Oduro to the Youth team of Spanish La Liga Side FC Barcelona as the 2024/25 League Season is ongoing.

La Masia de Can Planes, the renowned youth academy of FC Barcelona, is one of the world’s most prolific football talent factories, nurturing over 300 players.

The academy has been the cradle of numerous football legends such as Xavi, Pep Guardiola, Andres Iniesta, Lionel Messi, and Ansu Fati.

Its latest prodigy, Lamine Yamal, achieved remarkable success by winning the Euro 2024 with the Spanish National Team at just 17 years old.

David Oduro is poised to become the newest recruit at La Masia following years of trials with Chelsea, FC Barcelona and a standout performance during his time with the club.

The defender previously joined Accra Lions for the 2022/23 season, where he played a vital role in helping the team secure second place in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season.

The left-back, after winning the 2023 African Games with Ghana’s Black Satellites, is set to become the first Ghanaian player to be transferred directly from the Ghana Premier League to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Reports indicate that he will be joined by Abdul Azziz Issah from Dreams FC, who is also in talks with FC Barcelona about undergoing trials with La Masia.
