Students in the University of Ghana have praised the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (UGSRC) for their initiative to distribute Free Cornflakes across Campus.

The initiative was made possible through SRC’S collaboration with Kellogg’s Ghana.

This free distribution occurred on the 26th, 27th and 29th of May, 2023 at collection points which include the Hilla Limann Hall, Elizabeth Sey Hall and Volta Hall.

To collect the cornflakes, students were simply required to register via a link and show the completed registration form to distributors.

Many students were present at the collection points for each day the distribution took place.

A number of student beneficiaries of the Free Cornflakes distribution initiative shared their views on the scheme in a media engagement with UniversNews.

Most of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the SRC over the initiative. They expressed contentment and excitement as they described the initiative as beneficial.

“I think it is a good initiative of the UGSRC and students will benefit from it. Students will get breakfast. The Cornflakes can sustain us for at least a week,” scores of students expressed.

Some students however, found fault over the timing of the distribution.

According to these students, the initiative would have been much more effective had it been distributed at the latter part of the semester, when their resources start to diminish.

Their views, however, did not stop them from commending the step.

“It is a good initiative but it should not be done at this point in time of the semester. It should be distributed at a time within the semester when our things are getting finished but it is helpful and beneficial.”

The students beneficiaries finally extended their appreciation to Kellogg’s Ghana for liasing with the SRC to provide free Cornflakes for students.

They described the initiative as a successful one.

“I think this initiative has been a successful one and everything is good. We appreciate the company for this kind gesture.”
