The University of Ghana has partnered with Johnson & Johnson to strengthen mental health support and address stigma within the university community.
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, announced this during the SRC Day with the Vice-Chancellor, which was held on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the Cedi Conference Centre as part of activities marking this year’s SRC Week celebration.
Professor Amfo disclosed that the partnership will focus on improving access to mental health care and will be implemented in collaboration with the University’s Careers and Counselling Directorate, following the signing of an MOU between the two parties.
“UG and Johnson and Johnson signed an MOU to tackle mental health stigma and expand access to care for the university community. They are working with Careers and Counselling Directorate to provide support for mental health, not just for students, but generally for the university community.”
The Vice-Chancellor also revealed that the University is complementing its mental health interventions with efforts to prevent drug abuse among students through renewed awareness campaigns.
“UG launches Say No to Drug campaign. This was in partnership with Johnson and Johnson and the Food and Drugs Authority and we have also recently reignited that campaign.”
The initiatives form part of the University’s broader efforts to promote the physical, social and mental wellbeing of students and create a more supportive university environment.
