The Registrar of the University of Ghana, Mrs Emelia Agyei-Mensah, has stated that Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr George Domfeh, who were recently involved in an altercation on TV3’s The Keypoints, will be granted a fair hearing in accordance with the University’s rules and regulations.
This development follows a statement issued by University of Ghana Management announcing the initiation of internal disciplinary processes concerning the incident.
Speaking to Univers News, Mrs Agyei-Mensah stressed that, regardless of the platform, all members of the University are expected to uphold high standards of conduct to avoid bringing the institution into disrepute.
“We will proceed in line with the University’s rules and regulations. The University has established procedures in place. First and foremost, we will give the two individuals involved a fair hearing, ask them to state exactly what happened from their point of view, and then take the matter through the necessary disciplinary processes,” she stated.
“Basically, we are all representatives of the University. So wherever we find ourselves, whether within the University or outside it, we are expected to conduct ourselves in a manner that will not bring the name of the University into disrepute,” she added.
The University demands high standards of professionalism, integrity, and decorum from all faculty and staff and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements.
