The Chairman of the TEWU-TUC UG Chapter, Benjamin Nkumsah, has revealed to Univers News that TEWU-TUC has suspended its nationwide indefinite strike.

His comments follow a meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, during which the union was urged to call off the strike to allow negotiations to begin.

“We had an opportunity to meet with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission yesterday on the issue. We all agreed that I should ask members to suspend the strike so that negotiations can take place,” Nkumsah stated.

TEWU-TUC, however, insisted on receiving a formal document affirming their demands. After several rounds of deliberations, the union was given the mandate to temporarily suspend the strike, with negotiations scheduled to commence on Tuesday, October 7, 2025.

“I also demanded that we could not call off the strike without an official document addressing our request. They left us a document, so we will definitely meet them on Tuesday to continue the process,” he explained.

Nkumsah further clarified that the suspension is only temporary and members are expected to resume work on Monday, October 6, 2025.

“We have suspended the strike. So we expect that by Monday, members will resume their duties,” he added.
